Train the Trainer Workshops
Our Train the Trainer workshops are designed for student trainers and programs staff to engage students from day one by creating a strong culture of learning in the kitchen and classroom. This workshop gives chefs and frontline instructors the tools and techniques to more effectively coach, teach, and provide critical feedback to their training populations.
Workshop facilitator and Program Development Manager Justin Smith has years of experience through his time as a Chef Trainer for FareStart and Inspiration Corporation in student training, curriculum development, and a strong knowledge base of the social enterprise training model.

Strategies to increase student resiliency and self-empowerment to manage past trauma.
Establish a culture of learning in the kitchen and classroom through our Coaching Champions course.
Engage students from day 1 with consistent language, guidelines, and teaching techniques.

Effective student evaluations for improved departmental communications.
Build person-centric language and approach to training that fosters student growth and positive program culture.

Create and enhance kitchen, classroom, and online learning environments that fit the unique populations served across the Catalyst Kitchens network.
How We Support Chef Trainers
The majority of chef instructors come into their roles with culinary backgrounds and are new to teaching or providing social services support to individuals with employment barriers. This is where Catalyst Kitchens comes in - our roles is to provide coaching, resources, and technical assistance to give these trainers, and all staff members at our member organizations for that matter, what they need to succeed.

Where is it located?
Our workshops will be hosted online for the foreseeable future due to COVID-19 social distancing measures. We have redesigned the workshop content to include remote learning modules and student trauma resilience. We will continue to adapt to members needs as the year continues.
