Training Workshops

Training for Front Line Programs and Operations Staff
Culture of Learning, Student Evaluation Techniques, and More

Catalyst Consulting provides workshops designed to improve student training methods for operations and programs staff with direct student contact. We discuss how to develop a strong culture of learning and engage students from day one of the training program. The workshop focuses on how to improve communication regarding student progression among different departments to provide a holistic approach to the student experience and training progress.

Workshop facilitator Justin Smith, CK Program Development Manager, has years of experience in student training, curriculum development, and knowledge of the social enterprise training model. He has seen first-hand the complicated nature of translating professional kitchen experience into effective teaching and hands-on training practices. This workshop gives chefs and front-line instructors the tools and techniques to more effectively coach, teach, and provide critical feedback to their training populations.

Workshop Topics Include:
  • Coaching Champions: Creating a culture of learning
  • Teaching and Instruction Best Practices: Leading effective classroom and kitchen lessons for diverse learners
  • Evaluation Best Practices: Writing regular, effective, and useful student evaluations
The goal is to build a more person-centric language and approach to training that fosters stable growth and increases program retention. Attendees will leave more empowered to create and enhance their own lessons and assessments that fit the unique service populations across the Catalyst Kitchen Network.
