Trainee Population: Low Income
Since 2013, The Second Harvest Culinary Training Program has provided qualified, at-risk and economically disadvantaged adults with the culinary and life skills training needed to pursue a sustainable career in the food industry. The14-week program is provided at no charge and designed to assist students with barriers that would prevent them from achieving success while enrolled, such as lack of food, housing, transportation, childcare, and medical and mental health needs.
Social Enterprises: Catering, Food Truck, Childcare/School Meals
Second Harvest operates Catering for Good, a full service caterer serving a diverse range of clients from their unique 100,000 square foot facility. The Catering for Good food truck is busy year round but especially so when delivering meals in the aftermath of natural disasters such as Hurricane Irma. Meals for Good is thier contract meal service that provides freshly prepared meals to early childcare centers, children’s after school programs, group homes, and senior feeding programs.
