Empowerment through Training

To empower the lives of individuals facing barriers to employment through comprehensive foodservice and soft skills training, along with targeted job search and job retention efforts.

Program completion is greater than 60%. Graduate employment or return to education greater than 75%.

Students are integrated into daily production (spending more than 50% of their time in hands-on job-training). Classroom time is consistent and relevant, further developing technical and life skills, ultimately reinforcing employability.

All trainees have access to the basic services they need throughout the program (i.e. stable housing, nutrition, recovery and mental health services/referrals).

Trainees linked directly to potential employers and job opportunities.

A Social Enterprise Kitchen

To self-generate revenues through foodservice-based social enterprise(s) that provide real-life training opportunities for trainees, financial support for the program and a touch point with the community.

Foodservice businesses generate income to contribute to the mission by covering operational costs - not including social service or training costs.

Clear business plan and revenue goals established for kitchen production.

Clear benchmarks set and tracked to monitor food and labor costs.

Business operates at a scale adequate to provide consistent training and revenues.

Community Service through Quality Foodservice

To serve the community, generate revenue and provide trainees tangible experience preparing nutritious meals for disadvantaged populations and others.

Kitchen produces meals or product for disadvantaged populations.

50% or more of kitchen production is made from scratch.

Operating a clean and safe kitchen with Standard Operating Procedures documented and in use.

Food production is used as a community touch-point (i.e. community events, catered functions, retail outlets, etc.).
