The Teaching Kitchen is a 12-week culinary job training program for adults facing barriers to employment. The program runs 8 cohorts per year. Every trainee completes a 120 hour internship in the Community Servings kitchen, supporting production of 4,000+ meals from scratch each day. These medically tailored meals are home delivered to 2,400+ individuals living with a critical illness. In addition to the internship with Community Servings, Teaching Kitchen trainees complete daily, hands-on lessons with their chef instructor, including production of meals for sale through the TK Eats social enterprise. Outside of the kitchen, trainees benefit from weekly classes in Job Readiness, Financial Empowerment, Digital Literacy, and Nutrition. All trainees graduates with two Servsafe certifications, a well-written culinary resume, professional references, and most make an immediate transition into employment in the food industry.
